Personal training and performance coaching for leaders in the music business. A founding group of 10 starts on Monday 4 January 2027.
Working with Chris feels like being a Premier League footballer with a full-stack performance team.
Thanks. I’ll be in touch personally when we’re ready to launch.
In the meantime, here’s a thank you: a free copy of my book, The Inner Athlete. It started as a guide for musicians, but the principles in it are the foundation of Performance Conditioning, and they apply to anyone who has to perform under pressure.

People in music are creative and thoughtful. We’re driven by meaning, craft and curiosity, but much of the fitness industry runs on punishment, bravado and competition, assuming your training is the front-and-centre focus of your day.
Performance Conditioning is the thoughtful use of science to help you feel, and look, your best, without the all-or-nothing approach.
It’s also kept in-house. In a 2022 Music Support survey, 84% of people in the music industry seeking help said they’d rather it came from someone with industry experience.
All Access is built for people in music, by someone who has spent 20 years in the industry.
We train smarter, using a functional, whole-body approach. Every session is designed to expose and fix imbalances, so you build strength that carries over into everything you do.
Cardiovascular fitness is one of the clearest markers of long-term health, and it’s what keeps your energy up at the end of a long day. It’s trained safely and progressively, never to exhaustion.
Late nights are part of the job, so recovery has to work around them, not pretend they don’t happen. Your Headroom Review tracks sleep, stress and travel, and your training adjusts to match.
Every exercise has a travel version, so a week in LA or a run of hotel gyms doesn’t mean starting again when you get home.
Big moments ask for a calm, clear head. Breathing and nervous-system work, built into your week, help you find it when it counts.
Consistency beats intensity. A realistic plan and weekly accountability mean a missed week is just a missed week, never a reason to start over.
All Access is one-to-one coaching for artists and leaders in the music industry, coached directly by me, delivered online and built around your working life. Here’s exactly what you get.
Working in the music industry means we have erratic schedules that most training systems won’t survive. Performance Conditioning All Access is designed to flex with your time and your energy, so you have total autonomy over when and where you train.
Elite performance is as much about balancing your life outside of work as it is about the work itself. Every week, you’ll complete a short review modelled on the athlete monitoring used in elite sport, which I read personally, looking at your week through the lens of physiological headroom: the gap between what your week is asking of you and what you have left to give. Then we work together to ensure you’re performing (and living) optimally.
A direct line to me between reviews. Message me about anything that comes up, whether it’s a trip that’s just been added to your diary or a niggle that won’t settle. Send me videos of your training and I’ll send back notes on exactly what to change to improve your form and enhance your training outcomes. And once a month, we’ll have a 30-minute call to look back at your progress and plan the month ahead, if it’s needed.
If you’re in London or passing through, we can train together at a private gym. Book sessions on top whenever you want them (subject to availability).
Once a quarter, members meet at an exclusive private gym in London to train together, then have dinner. It’s a rare chance to spend an evening with people from across the industry who share the same pressures and the same priorities, and to build relationships away from the noise of work. You’re welcome to bring a guest, and whenever you’re in town, you’re in.

Complete 80% of your sessions and Headroom Reviews in the first three months. If you’re not happy with your progress, I’ll refund you in full, you keep the programme, and I’ll keep coaching you for free until you are.
I’ve made more progress over the last year than I did in the previous five. And the improvements in how I navigate life have been invaluable.
I see training as as much of a craft as playing an instrument, and that means it deserves the same level of care.
Most online coaching gives you a quick demo and leaves you guessing. Here, every exercise comes with a full lesson: what to do, why you’re doing it and what it should feel like, with scalable options that meet you where you are, as well as a travel version so your training is never interrupted by a tour.
In 2023, I sustained two brain injuries. The recovery took three years, and for a while my position as the drummer at Hamilton was up in the air, because I wasn’t sure I could keep performing in the state I was in.
So I started following neuroscientists, sports scientists and psychologists, and used it all to engineer a way of training myself so I could keep performing. Not only did I find a way through, but I was playing better than before.
From that, I developed The Headroom Method™: a unique approach to physical training for high-performing people who need to sustain elite levels of performance all year round.
I’m also the author of The Inner Athlete: A Musician’s Guide to Performance Conditioning, and a public speaker. My signature talk is Headroom: The Physiology of Elite Performance. It’s for artists, managers, label teams and touring crews, who leave understanding how to leverage their physiology to achieve elite performance.
Without this support I’m not sure I’d be able to do the work I do today.
